You’re clicking through Google search results, your search question staring at you accusingly: what should I do with my life? Three personality quizzes, twenty web pages, and a possibly sketchy free e-book later, and you are completely overwhelmed. There’s a lot of information out there that grabs for our attention, saying do this and go there, get this degree, and this career has more money, but you want to be happy, and didn’t your friend’s uncle say the market was going to crash soon anyways? Maybe it’s better to stay undecided, unfocused, unsure of your direction. Not yet! Newark Behavioral Health believes there is a career choice out there that won’t only further your goals, it’ll make you happy. We want to work with you as we discover what your passions are and what the next steps we can take are. Newark Behavioral Health wants to walk with you as you grow into this new phase of your life.
What is Career Counseling?
Career counseling is not just for new graduates braving the real world for the first time- although that is definitely a great reason to see a career counselor. Very few people stay with one career for their entire lives. In fact, the Bureau of Labor Statistics estimates the average person will change their job 12 times! While some people are ready to jump into the next career, for others it is a decision plagued with questions and uncertainty. That’s where a Newark Behavioral Health Career Counselor can come in handy. We are a supportive, empathetic, outside third party that can help sort through all the racing thoughts and questions. Having an outside perspective and talking about your decision out loud is very helpful for making decisions.
