The rest is really up to you and depends on how you wish to proceed. However, therapy tends to be most beneficial when the client is engaged during sessions, productive in working towards their goals and consistent in attending their appointments as scheduled. At Newark Behavioral Health, we will work together as a team to achieve your goals, while taking into consideration all the important factors of your life.

Our office is wheelchair accessible as well as a warm and welcoming environment. There are beverages and magazines available in our comfortable lobby as well as soft meditation music playing. Kathryn Keulmann

Licensed Social Worker

Hello! My name is Kathryn Keulmann and I’d love to be your Licensed Master Social Worker, LMSW. I’ve worked best with older adolescents and young adults in the past and covered issues such as relationship issues, self-esteem, communication skills, stress management, and coping with life changes and transitions such as identity-development or adjustment to college. I’ve helped those with high stress and anxiety explore and identify their triggers, develop a deeper understanding of how and why they react to situations as they do,  and developed healthy coping skills and habits with the client to better manage their situation.

  • I have found that developing a strong sense of self-awareness and insight into our thoughts and emotions is the key to improving overall mental health and wellbeing. To do this, I attempt to utilize an integration of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and evidence-based interventions that promote psychological flexibility and encourage values-based living.

My background includes a graduate degree from Widener University’s Master of Social Work program, work in inpatient psychiatric hospitals, and facilitating groups with a focus on psycho-education, development of effective coping skills, and fostering peer support. I have also provided mental health and cognitive rehabilitation therapy to individuals with traumatic brain injuries in both one-on-one and group settings. For the bulk of my career I’ve worked as a mental health clinician in community behavioral and mental health settings with individuals of all ages and issues including anxiety and depression. As a clinician, I inform my practice with a CBT-informed, Strengths-Based, and Person-Centered approach along with ACT interventions.

Overall, I enjoy helping clients explore and clarify their values, transform their ideas and desires into tangible and attainable goals, while developing stronger communication and self-advocacy skills. I provide a nonjudgmental atmosphere and approach my work with patience and genuine empathy, and I look forward to working with you! I am currently taking new clients aged 16+ and I work best with older adolescents and young adults.

Abby Chin, PhD

Associate Clinical Psychologist

Congratulations on taking the brave step of considering therapy. My goal as a therapist is to get to know you as an individual and work alongside you, creating an open, kind, genuine, and empowering therapy environment tailored to you. By safely working through your thoughts, feelings, and experiences in therapy, and collaboratively completing relevant, clear, and bite sized therapeutic goals, I believe you can facilitate change in your everyday life. I utilize a trauma informed, integrative approach to therapy, focusing on the Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Feminist Therapy approaches. I believe this blend of approaches…

  • …helps people understand themselves in the context of their environment, helps people find what is really important to them, and helps them to find actual ways to more deeply engage with what makes them happy ( important when many of us spend our daily life under-engaged in the things we find meaningful or valuable deep down). Furthermore, these approaches directly help people to build skills to help us to cope with distress, like mindfulness, mind-body calming skills, and interpersonal communication.

To tell you a bit about what starting therapy with me looks like: In our first session, I'll want to know what is bringing you in, to get to know a bit of who you are as a person and how you got here, and to start establishing your big goals for therapy. I will work with you to decide some smaller and easily achievable goals you can start on right away to help you achieve those big goals. I'll also likely discuss the longer-term therapy process too, though that is a bit different for every individual.

To tell you a little more about me: I obtained my Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology from Rowan University in 2019, and my Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Rowan in 2023. I’ve worked in both inpatient, outpatient, and primary care settings. I’ve worked with people with anxiety and depression, people experiencing stress and struggling to adjust to life changes, people wanting to reduce their substance use, people with obsessive-compulsive disorder, people with trauma and post-traumatic stress disorder, and people for whom their physical health status seriously effects their wellbeing and mental health. I’ve worked with teens, adults, and older adults. I typically do not see children for therapy or work with couples. I really like dogs, though cats are fine too.

I also embrace the fact that diversity is a key component of life, shaping all aspects of people’s experiences to varying degrees. As a woman of color, I do my best to be open to and understanding of the many ways a person’s identities impact their lives. Please know I strive to provide a safe space for people to process all aspects of life, including all aspects of diversity (even sex, religion, and politics!)

Thank you for reading, and I Iook forward to meeting you!

Licensed Mental health Counselor

It takes courage to start the journey towards healing, self-acceptance, and happiness. I believe many people have answers within but are blocked from recognizing or implementing them. Each of us is shaped by our past and present life experiences. Sometimes early experiences, especially those that are painful or traumatic, follow us into the present and impact our feelings about ourselves and our relationships with family and friends. We are not quite the person we want to be. Sadness, worry, guilt, and anger get in the way of the life we want. That’s where I come in. I have an eclectic method of treatment tailored to the individual and their needs. I see no two people nor their experiences as the…

  • …same and respect the importance in individually focused treatment planning. I provide a non-judgmental and compassionate atmosphere where one can safely explore and work through feelings, thoughts, images, beliefs, both conscious and unconscious. I approach treatment using humor along with concrete goals and practical solutions.

I am a Bilingual English and Spanish speaking Nationally Certified and Licensed Mental Health Therapist in Delaware and Pennsylvania. For the past 15 years I have worked in both inpatient and outpatient facilities on and individual and group level. My treatment has focused on relationships, grief, depression, anxiety, but the majority of my work has been specialized dealing with PTSD. Working for Wilmington’s VA hospital I led readjustment groups, couple’s counseling and individual counseling for our returning service men and woman. I also have extensive experience in helping survivors of sexual assault.

Licensed Clinical Social Worker

Are you struggling to ‘pick up the pieces’ and want to make a change in your life?

Therapy is similar to the Japanese art of kintsugi—in which the cracks and breaks in a piece of pottery are repaired with gold; using the ‘scars’ to make a new, unique, beautiful design. In the process of healing that which feels broken within us, we can become stronger, more resilient. Therapy can help you with the challenges you are facing, to move forward and to realize your potential or gain peace-of-mind.

  • My role is to help you tap into the core of who you are, to assist you in achieving your goals in a safe, compassionate, nonjudgmental environment.

Marcy Resnick is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) who obtained her Master’s degree at Bryn Mawr Graduate School of Social Work and Social Research. She has worked with clients and families with chronic illnesses and individuals experiencing trauma. Her experience includes case management, individual therapy, and support groups. She has knowledge of client issues involving: depression, anxiety, stress, trauma, grief, life-changes, and chronic illness.

Her therapeutic philosophy is collaborating with clients to accomplish desired goals while developing strengths and resources to deal with life’s challenges. Therapeutic techniques are tailored to the individual and may include: cognitive behavior therapy, solution-focused therapy, mindfulness-based, and trauma-informed therapy. Marcy is happy to accept adults of all ages for treatment.

You can take the next step on your healing journey by booking an appointment.
